• 2 lbs. extra-lean ground turkey (or 2 boneless chicken breasts, cut up small)
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Can (8oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 C. reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 C. hot sauce
  • 2 T. brown sugar
  • 2 T. red wine vinegar
  • 1 T. worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • hamburger buns
  • 1 C. crumbled blue cheese, optional (I used cheddar, not a fan of blue cheese!)

You can make this sandwich with either chicken or ground turkey. I have only made it with chicken, it’s wonderful. The baked beans go perfectly with this!

In a dutch oven, cook the first five ingredients over medium heat until turkey is no longer pink (If using chicken, do not precook, put in pot raw). Stir in the tomato sauce, chicken broth, hot sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, worcestershire sauce, and pepper; simmer for about half hour on low until mixture thickens. Serve on buns; sprinkle with blue cheese if desired.
