• 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 lb. hot Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 Tbsp. Basil Pesto
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Parsley
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Oregano
  • 2 Tbsp. Red Wine
  • 1/3 C. Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 Large cans Dei Fratelli Italian Sauce
  • 1 (6oz) can tomato paste
  • 3/4 C. Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 1/2 C. Cottage Cheese
  • 1 bag shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Lasagna Noodles

This is my version of lasagna. There are so many different lasagna recipes out there, I have tried many but this is my go to one. I LOVE IT! It is a mixture between my recipe and my parents. I have never written it down before until this past Tuesday when I made it. I actually measured ingredients out so I would be able to tell all of you! Usually I am just throwing it together. It has four cheeses, ground meat, and a little sausage. Definitely worth a try!


Directions:

Brown meat in pan, drain grease. In a separate pan, melt butter then added minced onion and garlic. Sautee until onions soft, about 4 min. Do not brown. (Most amazing smell in the world!) In a large Pot, mix together the meat, butter, onions, and garlic, and the remaining ingredients. Simmer on low for about 45 min to an hour. In the meantime, cook lasagna noodles, drain and let cool. In a small bowl, mix together Cottage and Ricotta cheese. You are now ready to put together your lasagna! Preheat oven to 350, using a 9×13 pan spoon 1 1/2 ladles full of sauce on bottom of pan followed by a layer of noodles. Then spread 3 heaping Tbsp of cottage cheese mixture on top followed by a sprinkle of Mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese (I don’t measure this). THEN 2 ladles of sauce followed by a layer of noodles. Repeat this 4 more times for a total of 5 layers of noodles. Top with Mozzarella cheese. Bake at 350 for 45 min or until cheese is melted and sides are bubbling. Enjoy!
