Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us!  We love love around here and I really enjoy doing little things such as this craft or making special heart-shaped meals to embrace this day.  My mom has always done things like this for us growing up and I’ve never forgotten those happy memories.  I would love for my kids to have the same!  I think they’re catching on because the other day, Lyla “surprised” me with a heart-shaped tin filled with red confetti that she cut.  She even cut some of them into tiny hearts.  Seriously, cute.. and kinda messy, but still crazy sweet of her.  “Surprise, mom!  I made you confetti!”

( Their hair looks crazy because they just had a bath  😉 )

Anyhow, I was feeling the need to add something lovey-dovey to our home and remembered seeing this easy and inexpensive flower petal wreath that can also be a picture frame.  I grabbed a bag of artificial rose petals at the dollar store and we were good to go!  This probably took less than 10 minutes and my girls love it… especially now that I put a picture of them in the middle of it!  They also love playing with the extra flower petals!  Seriously, they carry them around in buckets, throw them up into the air, make trails from one room to the other so they could find their way home, haha!  This would also be great just for a grandparent gift or maybe mother’s day, too!

All you need to do is cut a hole in the center of a paper plate and lay the plate face down on your work surface.  See the wreath in the top right corner of the picture below?  I first tried this out face side up and it didn’t look as nice.  So anyhow, paper plate upside down, plug in your hot glue gun or find your favorite glue, and you’re all set…

Working from the outside in, glue your petals in a circle, overlapping them slightly.  Continue working towards the center with each concentric circle of petals.  Make sure your last row covers any visible paper plate, like this…

Glue a ribbon to the back of the wreath so it can be easily hung.  Tape a picture in the middle of your wreath to make a super sweet picture frame!

Happy crafting!!!
